Anyway, my country has serious problems with refugees. That sentence isn't me condemning them by the way, what I mean is that refugees are a huge political issue here and racism and compassion are all mixed up and messed around until you don't know what the hell to think.

At the end of the day I do believe that refugees should be helped but that there are serious questions as to how best to help that are extremely difficult to answer.
i don't think refugees should be going to the west

however i do think these people should be helped because how would you like it if your country was burning to the ground because of stupid politics and the rest of the world just ignored you?

Hang on wait, did you misread my post perhaps? I said they SHOULD be helped, not the opposite.

some people in this thread *cough*raust*cough* are either ignorant or playing stupid. i don't know what you're referring to exactly but if we're talking about syrians then you don't know sh*t. syria is a secular country with muslims, christians, druze, and people of other faiths. there are schools, universities, malls, nightclubs, its not so different. the vast majority of the nation is educated. a lot of syrian women don't wear hijab or cover up. not every muslim majority country is saudi arabia you know. in fact, syria, lebanon and palestine all took in a great number of armenians during the first world war because the turks were committing crimes against them for being christian. you don't even know what you're talking about and you're brainwashed by all the propaganda you read and watch.

Speaking of Saudi Arabia, one of my fave episodes of No Reservations ever.

jeddah is cool. the people there are generally considered to be the more liberal saudis. that's not why i like it though, they have a cool accent and great places to visit.

The people of China, Germany and the UK are the most welcoming to refugees in the world, according to an Amnesty International survey on attitudes towards those fleeing war and persecution.

Canada sitting at #4, not bad. We've had a couple Syrian families relocate to the town I live in recently (which has a population just pushing the 2000s) and for the most part people have went out of their way to welcome to them which is obviously very nice to see.
