You respect authority when it's imposed on you (which I can understand, those officers have guns), but when given the opportunity to have a say in who imposes the authority, you decline. Sorry, but I just don't get that.

But that doesn't really apply in elections. You live in a democracy, so by voting, you make the menu at your own house. And you don't even have to tell people about what you decided, if you don't feel like it.
