They perform a role that has been tasked of them - not something they collectively decided was a great idea. The guys who oversee the whole operation have spent years figuring out how to give the best service to their customers, not spotty Biran and his slacker mates.
Of course it's the most direct customer facing position, but it also doesn't require any special talents - so why would they be given a high wage compared to a higher level employee? If the production line at Burger King needs improving, customer feedback will most likely be the deciding factor in that.

Some people are thick as fuck but the shop needs somebody to stand there and stack a shelf or scan items. People have different levels of ability, not everyone is as worthy as each other.
Minimum wage laws dictate that pay for superior employees can't be too much more because you're forced to pay completely useless employees a decent wage.

Wow, I had no idea that minimum wage laws compelled business owners to create useless positions. That's ****ed up.

And you wonder why nobody cares? Cause the hires are mostly lower income people from lower income families who are used to not having any stake in society who have every reason derived from experience to tell them that they will always be poor scumbags, so why would they care about a minimum wage job that treats them like numbers on a pie chart and pays them just about enough to live off of if they have another ****ty minimum wage job? You want people who care enough to be satisfied, contributing members of a business that they feel they have a stake in running smoothly? Well you can start by not eating at fast food restaurants. They exploit their workers, serve food that no one in their right mind would feel proud to feed another human being, and are basically zoos for the public to watch people in poverty who they can feel superior to and get a taste of what it must have felt like to be an aristocrat abusing a servant. Not to mention they've largely replaced real, non-chain restaurants where a worker might feel invested in a non-hierarchical work structure.

I'm not powerless. I've worked hard, shown my worth and have progressed very very quickly in my own field. Whilst others in the same field are plodding around doing the same rubbish they were when they started and moaning about not being recognised.

Businesses do generally like toadies who buy into their propaganda and are looking to feel better than others as neo-aristocrats.

Explain to me why collective ownership etc. would work more than some form of hierarchy then? Practically, not theoretically or even ethically. How would you be able to build a functioning business that gives customers what they want under a collective structure?
May as well continue to use Burger King as an example.
