And that goes for all of you. Yes, Roxy, if you sat me down and explained to me exactly what your beliefs were, I will almost certainly think they are stupid. You may not be stupid, but in all likelihood I will find your belief in some guy who walked on water to be as stupid as Tom Cruise's belief in Xenu.

I'm "happy" that some of you freaks want me not to suffer eternal torment, but I just don't care about anything you have to say.

Would you like to reconstruct that sentence?

Except I belive in letting people come to me. I dont evangelize.I dont believe in it.

There's quite a bit of disparity between translations obviously, it being such an old text and all. I'm not saying that there isn't a less hyperbolic element of what you describe in the Quran at points, but that's hardly exclusive to Islam and the Quran offers far more than what you're trying to boil it down to such as the quote I referenced earlier.

lol... i'm not saying there's not a less hyperbolic version of what you describe = you are right, mr booth, but i'm too frownlandish to say it

and i didn't 'boil it down' to that cause i clearly stated that i havent read huge portions of it.. i simply described the impression i got each time i did give it a try. so don't you go trying to bring any strawmen in here mr frownland

to my credit... i didn't cherry pick verses... i started at the book's beginning. so i guess my overall point is at least the intro to the quran is pretty much a big **** you to all you non-allah-believing MBers

Yes I was agreeing with you but I can't tell if you're serious or not with that approach so I had to add in the qualifier.

You're correct, you didn't boil it down you painted it with a broad brush. Even if you may not know exactly what you were painting.

This is the first surah

Quote:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:

All Praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Universe

The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Owner of the Day of Judgement.

You alone do we worship, and You alone we turn to for help

Guide us to the straight path;

The path of those on whom You have bestowed your grace, not (the way) of those who have earned Your anger, nor of those who went astray.
At the end you find out that Muhammad was dead the whole time.
