Republican vs Democrat is far from being just about the money. It's extremely ironic that your current stance of "doing only what's in my best interest" is the same outlook that a hell of a lot of very rich people in this country take. And yours is the same attitude that a vast majority of republicans oppose, i.e.; "those poor democratic voting folks who just want to scam the system for as much as they can get."

With all due respect, you are a very confused person when it comes to political ideologies. But take solace in the fact that you are part of a pretty large percentage of people here in the USA.

My folks divorced when I was 2. My dad was a deadbeat when it came to child support. My mom worked her ass off to try and provide for me and my two sisters. Thank god there was some social programs available to her so that we did OK. We were still pretty poor but we didn't starve.

it's not so much ironic as it is common sense. looking out for one's best interests knows no class nor race nor creed.

and with all due respect, i'm not confused at all. if i cared enough about a particular election i would vote but i don't so i don't.

if i cared enough about a particular issue to vote then i would, that would make more sense to me than putting any support towards a half-assed political party like the democrats.

I want to marry you. I love your views on stuff like this.

Dude I'm poor as **** but even just yesterday I spent $5 of the $10 I made in tips on lunch for a homeless dude. Looking out for others is looking out for yourself. Why would I want to be the last one standing in a world full of morbid self-absorption? Has nothing to do with political parties and everything to do with basic human decency.

I agree completely. I try to do donations to any street/shop collections even though I'm poor as hell. Not often, but to contribute to the human race I like to be friendly to people, say hello to neighbours and people in my area when I'm walking, let elderly get on the bus first, and thank people in the customer service industry. It's not a big contribution but it's a start. When I'm earning bigger bucks I want to donate to cat and dog rescues and buy Christmas gifts and food donations to the City Mission. I'm selfish, I focus on my own needs but what makes me happiest is helping out my family, supporting myself without relying on my parents or others and looking after my cat who I adopted.

i gave my change to the salvation army guy when walking out of kmart if that means anything. where i grew up there were so many homeless that basically you would go broke if you gave them each a buck so you just got used to saying no as an instinct.
