What an absolute idiot. If he has time to complain about people watching video games online then he needs to get out more.
Also, what about people who can't afford to buy games all the time and want to see what its like. Helps you decide. It is as much a waste of time as watching T.V. or movies. Or reading books. Your not doing anything productive and same goes for video games. Can't people just go do what they want to instead of complaining. Just because you watch people playing video games, doesn't mean you don't do anything other than that. It can help to pass time and there is a lot of enjoyable video gamer's out that. A lot of funny ones, might I say. I guess he should be complaining about all forms of media as it all is a waste of time in a sense. But it is entertainment. ****ing enjoy it. At the end he started comparing real life to video games. What the ****? |

Pfft, if I wanted real life I'd play the sims. To be fair, watching other people playing games is weird, strategy games is somewhat understandable, maybe. Apart from that it was just a video of a man lamenting his ****ty childhood.

Some of my greatest memories involve sitting around with a few friends, most of us drinking and cheering for one person with the controller in their hand. Then when they die, someone else takes over. Good ****in times.

I enjoy watching competitive and casual gaming. I watch to learn and get better and also to replace the lack of sports that I watch. There are some very large competitions going on atm and I have been having a ton of fun the past couple weekends. Hearthstone Blizzcon qualifiers and League of Legends world championship series, yes please.
I don't understand why they felt the need to attach this quality of being anti-social or unadventurous to enjoying watching video games. Many of us enjoy going out and video games. Seriously f*cking retarded comments. |

Im all kinds of offended by this pretentious *******.
practically all i watch on youtube is the gaming channels and i do binge watch Orange is the new black AND i wanna talk about it!! Why is that a waste of time? what, im better off listening to a pretentious dumb bastard like him? this guy forgets, ppl don't watch gaming channels for the content, they watch it for their character. it's like playing Mario party with a room of funny dudes what they're playing is not that important the entertaining part comes from their conversations and their personalities. unless they just only stream the game, that is pretty boring. but some ppl like that but they're never gonna stand out among the rest if they don't start using their own personality. this guy not only sucked at games but he sounds like he had dull friends as well who apparently all play videogames without goofing off.

I watch them for the content.
Video games are a product. I want to see technical aspects: frame rate, texture resolution, sound design, game play mechanics, overall structure, online integration. Also look for artistic value, social commentary, story, and novel concepts. Is this particular game moving the medium forward? I find video games equally, or more stimulating to any other art. Growing up with them, i enjoy identifying the different "layers" and watching the progression of certain mechanics evolve. Unless your heavily invested in the medium, as most mainstream video game press surprisingly isn't (will change very soon, we're talking about the most profitable commercial media, after all) you won't have the knowledge base to find reward in watching video games. I also enjoy viewing other's skill, but to a lesser extant. I am a firm believer that video games will eclipse other mediums within the next decade. It's inevitable. Virtual reality and hyper realistic graphics, hollywoodification of videogames, and the way the medium can stimulate pleasure receptors in ways other media simply can't. In a few years time parent companies of CBS will be heavily invested in game development if not already. Rubbish stories like this may still exist, but will garner much less empathy/respect. |
