For me, it would just be awkward and uncomfortable. I wouldn't even want to visit a place like that. I would find it too upsetting.

Eh. I can see it being weird, and I can see getting emotional over certain parts of the camp that would make me visualize something, like one of the gas chambers, or one of the prisoner barracks, but as for just being there in general, I imagine much of it probably just looks like boring, ugly buildings, so I don't see why everybody should be expected to have such a visceral emotional reaction just by the sheer presence of the place.

was I supposed to be angry because someone took a picture of themselves at a famous landmark?
I don't get this thread.

This is the equivalent of going to Guyana to take photos in the field where people were poisoned to death by Jim Jones. Great idea for a trip and a wonderful time for a selfie.

Hey, in 2014, there's no point in going anywhere if you miss the chance to maximize your facebook likes by not taking a selfie.

If there aren't at least 20 instagram posts taken at my funeral, I'll be quite disappointed.

That's kind of where I'm at. Like, I understand the idea behind it, and can even empathize with the frustration of it all, but I don't think we need to single out individuals to become the whipping person for an entire generation.

I tell you though, it makes me happy as fuck camera phones/ 3G/ and social media didn't exist when I was growing up. The idea of something I do getting filmed and then spread out for the entire internet to gawk at makes me throw up a little in my mouth.

Its really the only reason to have a facebook.

I wouldn't miss the chance to get a selfie photo of me hugging you in your casket, but unfortunately i'll probably go first. Godspeed
