Yeah, I mean, I've had some issues with religious people being prejudiced against my atheism.
At the same time, some of my best friends are religious. Go figure. I guess a certain percentage of any demographic are *******s, and vice versa |

I find that in Canada, there is not so much contention between the theist and atheist. Probably because there aren't so many fundamentalist weirdos here. Most of the religious I've met are quite liberal too.

i live in the bible belt and like i said i haven't had any real issues with it. the worst i've had are snarky dumb questions like "if there's no god then why is the sky blue? "
of course there are the annoying preachy types but then there are atheists like that too. the kind of people to whine over a local nativity display and **** like that. |

According to a large part of my religious family members with their forwarded emails and shared Facebook posts, it's the Christians who are being persecuted in modern America.

It's rough being a Christian these days. You can't even go to a store without someone not reminding you that it's Christmastime because someone uttered the devil's catchphrase "happy holidays".
I really feel for them man, I've never experienced anything like that as an agnostic. Poor Christians. "Whenever someone says Happy Holidays, the devil laughs and eats a baby." -Actual, serious quote from my grandmother.

Atheism seems so common in my age group / demographic that when we actually do meet spiritual or religious folks they're the ones who feel out of place. Most of the spiritual or religious people I know that are my age (literally only 2 or 3 come to mind) are extremely quiet about it.
The opposite seems true for demographics over 30 years old.

Despite being pretty atheistic... And honestly, pretty lavishly blasphemic... I've found that in a professional environment the bias is in favor of religious folk. And I'm really not passionate enough about my beliefs to say I don't believe in your god if someone says something religion-inspired that's meant to be nice. I just let people believe I'm a good christian girl to avoid drama and dead end conversations that will probably cause more headache and harm than good. They mean well.
