Also the whole breathalyzer thing isn't necessary. Some bars have ties with cab companies and will call a cab for people so that they can get home.

I find myself asking myself why alcohol even exists. What is the point of it? I enjoy a drink from time to time, but why? (Biologically/psychologically, what is the purpose?)

I wish it was legal for bartenders to hold people's keys in designated lock-boxes (sort of similar to rows of little P.O. boxes at the post office), and in order for the owner to get them back, they have to pass a breathalyzer test to ensure that they're not over the limit. And if they are, they're required to take a taxi. Would certainly cut down on public intoxication, I think.

i dunno alcohol leads to fun situations ya seem like a socially scared person or somethin. like just generally scared of the world. the chances of you gettin roofied or whatever are so slim. especialyl when you consider 1) girls never go out a lone, they travel in packs 2) you can go out with whoever ya want, probably a group of ppl.

the potential rapist would have to be a master ninja to roofie everyones drink

that's the thing. She's not that much of a social person in the first place and she'd end up going out alone which isn't a great idea for her.

My life doesn't really allow for the social thing.

(And even if it did, I'd 'nope' right out of there like a cat that fell in a bathtub.)

There are coin/bill operated breathalyzers in some bars. There was one in a bar I used to drink at occasionally. I never saw anyone use it any of the times I was there, though.

Not sure if it was this exact model, but here's an example of one...

I completely agree with the original post. I feel that driving while intoxicated is really a huge deal. I mean you are taking lives into your own hands. You can get so impaired from alcohol where you can't even see straight. How are you supposed to drive while drinking?

Just like any other moral decisions we make, this is one that should be a big deal.

And greatly increase car thefts, because someone would probably be selling the keys to the highest bidders!

And it's not like people don't have more than one car key! (I have at least three for my truck.)
