An experiment conduced on a replica of an ancient bronze mirror held at Kyoto’s National Museum revealed that the original may have been used as a ‘magic mirror’ to conjure up images of mountain wizards and divine beasts for sun-worshipping rituals. In a magic mirror, unevenness on the polished surface—too subtle to be detected by the naked eye—reproduces patterns on the back when light reflects off the front.
The mirror, known as Himiko’s mirror, was unearthed from the Higashinomiya Tomb in Aichi, Japan, and belongs to the “sankakubuchi shinjukyo” (triangular-rimmed deity and beast mirror) category of mirrors. It is associated with Himiko, a shaman Queen who ruled the kingdom of Yamatai in the 3rd century AD, because some of the mirrors found in the tomb and in other locations were inscribed with the year 239, which is when a Chinese emperor presented 100 bronze mirrors to the Queen’s emissary, according to a Chinese chronicle. At the time, mirrors were a valued gift between members of the court and were often used as diplomatic gifts to bind political alliances. Oddly enough, Queen Himiko is not mention in Japanese sources, rather it is a classic Chinese historical text written in the late third century, ‘Records of the Three Kingdoms’, which gives the earliest and most complete picture of this ancient queen.<snip> Magic mirror of shaman Queen used in ancient Japanese rituals | Ancient Origins I should point out you cannot see the illuminated back image of the mirror just by shining light through it. You have to bounce it against a flat surface such as a wall and see it that way. The Japanese Christians under the Tokugawa shogunate used to create false backs on their mirrors so that when you looked at the back, you saw Buddha, but when you shined a light through it against a wall, you saw Jesus crucified. These mirrors require an incredible amount of polishing in order to work and is the forerunner of microchip-building technology. |

Portuguese news reported the discovery of a very large under water pyramid first discovered by Diocleciano Silva between the islands of São Miguel and Terceira in the Azores of Portugal.
According to claims, the structure is said to be perfectly squared and orientedby the cardinal points. Current estimates obtained using GPS digital technology put the height at 60 meters with a base of 8000 square meters. The Portuguese Hydrographic Institute of the Navy currently has the job of analyzing the data to determine whether or not the structure is man-made. “The pyramid is perfectly shaped and apparently oriented by the cardinal points,” Silva told Diário Insular, the local newspaper. The pyramid was found in an area of the mid-Atlantic that has been underwater for about 20,000 years. Considering this is around the time of the last ice age where glaciation was melting from its peak 2000 years prior, whatever civilization, human or not, that was around before the ice age, could be responsible for building the pyramid. <snip> Huge Underwater Pyramid Discovered Near Portugal |

I was actually in Bosnia in the summer of 2008 doing volunteer work on the pyramid of the moon. Not much to say but I was also on the sun pyramid, walked through the tunnels underneath and was on some kind of man made thing that had awesome energy to it. I really felt great up there and felt like I could stay there all day and yet it was tiny compared to the pyramids.

What makes Margate special is the presence of a mysterious grotto. The grotto lies under houses with gardens at no more than two meters depth. The word grotto originally comes from the Italian word grotto, in Latin crypta. Caves or grotto's can be formed artificially or naturally. In natural formation, limestone (calcite) solves in carbonated water. If this happens you will often find stalactites there.
What makes the shell grotto of Margate so mysterious is that there is nothing known about it. We do not know when the grotto was built, by whom and for what purpose. That much time and effort is spent is clear from the decorations that you find in there. More than 4.6 million seashells, spread over 21 meters in length (over 600 m2) mosaic of shells, decorate each piece of the wall and ceiling of the grotto. Since the discovery in 1835 people have speculated about the true meaning of this place. The mysterious shell grotto of Margate |
