Um, one of them is Irish...
It actually annoys me how they're presumed to be innocent (the Irish girl anyway) and the Irish govt is up in arms with nobody thinking for a moment: they were on a plane, at least once, and they couldn't get a note to someone in authority if they were being pressured or threatened? And it wasn't just a few grams: we're talking like 11 kilos here! They're lucky it wasn't Singapore: don't they have the firing squad for that there?

I'm sorry but I have no sympathy for anyone who allows themselves to get involved in something like this. There must have been a dozen ways they could have alerted the authorities. What about "arranging it" so that they had to go through the red channel or something? Innocent dupes my foot!

Haha I hear you. My granddad is from Belfast but tbh I don't consider him British but that's probably cos he hates us.

Residents of Northern Ireland have the choice between an Irish or a British passport or even both. Also NI is part of the UK but not part of Great Britain.

I think they're as guilty as hell. Michaela as far as I know has a huge drugs debt to her name and I'm guessing she saw this an opportunity to pay it off. They definitely didn't visit Peru for a bloody holiday.

I doubt after a few years in a Peruvian jail, she'll even remember where she's from.

This is really the crux the matter. It's not like they've committed a crime here in Europe or another area of the first world, where when somebody goes to prison there is a certain amount of accountability in what goes on. It's happened in a country like Peru that is uncivilised by our standards when it comes to certain things. I've spent enough time there over the years, to know what sort of stuff goes on there.
