Um, one of them is Irish...
It actually annoys me how they're presumed to be innocent (the Irish girl anyway) and the Irish govt is up in arms with nobody thinking for a moment: they were on a plane, at least once, and they couldn't get a note to someone in authority if they were being pressured or threatened? And it wasn't just a few grams: we're talking like 11 kilos here! They're lucky it wasn't Singapore: don't they have the firing squad for that there? I'm sorry but I have no sympathy for anyone who allows themselves to get involved in something like this. There must have been a dozen ways they could have alerted the authorities. What about "arranging it" so that they had to go through the red channel or something? Innocent dupes my foot! |
She's from Northern Ireland, she's British.

Also, it's the IRISH government who are looking after her there not the British. Stick to your own side of the channel, Brit! |

The ROI's people are looking after a Northern Irish girl? That's... unusual and intriguing. Is it standard practice in international affairs to give Northern Irish citizens that option? I'm assuming here that she requested them over the British because I can't imagine us being very happy to have Ireland stepping in to control our citizens without a reason.

She's got an Irish passport.

I don't know the politics of it actually but I know the Irish ex-ambassador or something in Peru was helping out. Generally, when someone from Northern Ireland is involved in the news it's a field day for media: they can be Irish or British, so both the Irish news and the UK news are claiming her to be of their nationality.
But as far as we're concerned, anyone from our island is considered Irish. Why do they call themselves Northern Irish and not Slightly-West-of-British? ;) It's like the old joke isn't it? When the Northern Irish boxer was punching hell out of his opponent the commentator roared in approval "Oh the British lad is doing well here!" But when he began to take punches and lose ground it was "Oh now the Irish lad is in trouble!" |
Just saw on the news, they're both likely to be charged
Good news, hope these cunts rot. |
