I am still struggling with how this will benefit American citizens. If everyone around me pays to play yet I don't, I still have to pay to continue not receiving healthcare... and every year I "choose" not to pay the $347 a year it will cost in my state to insure myself I have to pay exponentially more? In what way is this a + for me?
Additionally, my boss was telling me that in order for him to give medical/dental benefits to his employees through AHCA it will cost $4000 a head, while the penalty for not insuring them is only 2k per person. In what world would a small-business owner go along with insuring their workforce through this system? |

What is happening is that most Republicans have gotten more bigoted as America won't be as white as it once was. In 1980s, 80-85 percent of the population was white but now it has dropped to 72 percent in 2012 with 64-65 percent being really white (meaning no hispanic background), So now you see the consquences of a less white country. It angries many white Americans epsecially those on the right because they realize that they cannot hate minorities for no reason. Affordable Care Act is part of the anger of the many Republicans. Having a more diverse bother certain conservatives like Rand Paul, Michelle Bachman, and Steve King who are used to only white people being around them. That is the reality of today's politics. To have more Americans have health insurance angers many Republicans because they realize that health insurance companies won't be able to make more money like recently or in the past.

As to the small business, with less then 50 full time employees there is no penalty. Most of what I really consider small business won't have to pay a penalty. Medium size businesses will though. You get to decide if you want to have insurance or not. At some point you will want coverage. The fact is... people who have health care by having insurance live longer than those that don't have insurance. Obviously, it would be better not to have to have insurance companies but that's not happening. It is my hope however, that over time we can move away from the employer model for providing health care. |

Of course there are a group of young millennials like yourself that think you are invincible and don't need to buy into it or get health insurance but you won't be penalize if you are making less than 80k per year or something similar for a single person.

Can you imagine... "911 whats your emergency?" "Oh hello. I have a guy outside that is shooting at me and the children. He seems to think we are walking dead zombies. Must be high on something." "I see your address. What insurance do you have? After we verify coverage, we will send out a policeman that is in your network." You know what? Cancer will kill you just as dead as a maniac with a gun. And it is more likely. |

Well, if you can get a law passed that doctors and hospitals get paid by our tax dollars so that we don't have any out of pocket expenses just like the police, most people won't go for it because the tax hike would likely be too much to make it feasible.
But maybe not. |
