Since then, acupuncture has spread its way westwards and is, today, generally seen as the most credible form of alternative medicine. At least that would be true in Norway where the claimed efficiency of the practice seems commonly accepted.

But is acupuncture an effective treatment? The mechanisms by which it claim to work are mystical or even mythical (non-existant?) and numerous scientific studies seem to conclude that there is no effect, or that the effect is too small for clinical recommendation. Yet, many people claim that acupuncture helps them.

What do you think?
People claim relief with homeopathic treatments.
People also claim to feel the presence of ghosts, and Jesus.
People obviously don't give their own minds enough credit. I wish they'd think more highly of themselves.

I was recommended acupuncture for the treatment of pain for a medical condition I have. I did a few sessions and honestly, I didn't notice it make any difference

However, I think the whole concept of pressure-points (not just in terms of acupuncture but also in other practices such as massage) has some merit when it comes to muscular pain. Trigger-point or pressure-point massages have done wonders for my back when I've had pain related to muscle tension.
