Oh, and yes I know I've only just joined this thread and now I'm spitting all over it but I feel very strongly about this subject. I wish people would just realise that some things are not, and never will be, in any way, funny, nor should they be made fun of.

Maybe I never will.
She explained something that happened to her, and as I said, I would apologize if I made any jokes about what happened. However, I've also stated that before knowing that, why should I feel insensitive about it, especially if it's just a joke. If my intentions are to make a light hearted joke about something and somebody gets offended without me knowing prior, why am I wrong? I feel like i'm asking this question a lot, but some people keep jumping on other people.

Anyway lol at being offended by a joke, why let it bother you? It's a joke, it's not to be taken seriously, so why take it seriously?
Oh, I don't know, maybe I would have flashbacks from emotional and physical trauma that never heals? It's easy to joke about something you've never gone through.

'I had flashbacks' is not the same as 'somebody told a joke and I was offended'

Flashbacks are flashbacks.

So that point is irrelevant tbh.

People are trying to twist what I'm saying, come at me.

Anyway as for the 2nd bit, I joke about things I have gone through, laughter is the best medicine.

As do I, and to make this more interesting, I was molested when I was a kid. Would I care if you made a joke about it? No. I've made jokes about it too.

You say this as if it is fact. Who gets to decide which things are OK and which things aren't?

And that's when it becomes problematic. Who should determine where that line is? We've already established that most jokes need a "victim" in order to be funny, so in that regard there will always be someone who takes offense at a joke, because there will always be someone who can relate more to the victim than the joke teller.

Therefore, there are only two fair, realistic ways of defining what is acceptable and what isn't - either everything is fair game, or nothing is. And no-one wants to live in a world where you can't joke about anything. So "everything is acceptable" wins. Rape jokes are fine.

That doesn't mean that everyone can or should feel that way. If someone *doesn't*, that should be respected.

25 pages of serious discussion about joking. Ahh, the irony...

I know mate, I do respect it, someone doesn't want to joke about something, fine, they don't have to. I'm not saying anyone who doesn't make fun of themselves is a cunt, that was just in response to 'it's easy to joke when you're not the victim'. It's easy for me to joke about anything including when I've been a victim .

Oh ffs! Seriously? You think it's a point of view that rape is or isn't funny or a thing to be laughed at? Of course it's a fact: rape is not, ever, funny and anyone who says it is is a prick.

As to the comment: look at it this way. I can understand some guy at a bar seeing Stephanie and being knocked out by her --- she's stunning, we all know that --- but would your first move be to tell her you want to rape her? Mouth, pussy, it's all the same. Rape is synonymous with force, lack of or no regard for consent, and violence. So what this guy is saying is "You're so beautiful I want to violently assault your mouth?" If he wanted to make the point, why not say "I want to make love to your mouth" or even "I want to **** your mouth"? Why use the word rape? Implies he's gonna do what he wants to whether she wants him to or not. Whether it's a "joke" or not is beside the point: he has this obvious belief that he can do what he likes.

I still haven't seen anyone accept the fact that they're defending a rape joke/ comment with someone here who has been directly affected by in in the thread. So why are you not insensitive? You've been told, you must have heard, yet you're still defending your stance and not once has anyone said "I didn't mean to offend" that I can see, or even, and I guess I have to include myself here, drop the damn subject in deference to her pain.

Which I will now do.
But you're still all insensitive jerks if you can't see the truth of what I'm saying.

Oh, and CB, why are you quoting yourself and then adding a question mark?
