But if you have a phd in biology or are some authority on food safety in any way(that's what I have asked Duga specifically), I would be happy to listen to your expert opinion. Hell, if you could even point me in the direction of a study of the long term effects of gmo's I would be all for it. Especially, being I am a mom of a kid with severe allergies that seem to be aggravated by certain foods. And since the allergen effect of gmos are not yet identified, not that I am aware of, I'm going to be concerned.

Don't take this the wrong way, katsy, because I like you, but the topic of this thread is "Proccessed Meats=Cancer& the evils of GMOs", that is a little toward the hysteria side, IMO

And also you putting it that way makes this statement no less wrong. We are omnivores. We eat plants and meat. Meat is good for you. So...eating the flesh of dead animals is NOT bad for you.
The protein part is not be bad for you but all the other stuff is, the bacterial & viral part is, and every other anti-biotic they pump into live stock. Nitrates appear naturally in vegetables... so is the OP justifiable in her concern that they appear in meat? j/c

I don't really eat much red meat anyway but I really can't take this type of information seriously anymore because just about everything seems to cause cancer and no matter what you do you can't stop yourself from being exposed to something that may increase your risk of getting cancer.

I'm sure gluten allergies are a real thing, but is gluten really such a big deal or are people just being sold a steaming pile of BS to get them to buy gluten free food?

Yes, gluten allergies are real (Celiac Disease), and they need to eat gluten free foods, but I don't see why people without the disease feel compelled to eat gluten free products.

Like I said I'm sure it's a real allergy, but how wide spread is it? Considering just how big this whole anti-gluten thing is becoming, either society has been living under the oppressive yoke of Wonderbread for decades or America is just one big stupid.

Apparently it varies by population group and ethnicity (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coelia...e#Epidemiology), but overall it's not terribly common. It's genetic and not acquired, so I think that's why.

The only reason this stuff is bad for people is because people live so long now something has to kill us.
I don't really want to live to my 90s with all my friends & family dead and have to wake up to find i've shit in my bed.

Bring on the red meat.
