I must say its refreshing to read that girls are willing to go Dutch, thats pretty awesome. I have never let a girl pay, but I find it refreshing there are some willing and able. There were times in college where I was strapped but i'd still never let a girl pay, doesn;t seem right.

I'll pay so long as the woman doesn't just want to be friends and hang out. Then I feel really used about the idea of paying.

I pay either way. My dad always said you invite someone on a date you pay.

I was the opposite when I was dating. I was perfectly happy to pay, but if my date didn't at least offer I knew she wasn't someone I'd want to get involved with.

I'm always willing to split the check on a date or an outing with friends (this is more likely to happen with friends, of course). When I started dating my boyfriend, though, I told him this and then he was like "That's fine but in my culture the man ALWAYS pays for the lady no matter who suggested the date". I was actually glad that someone still believed in chivalry to a certain degree - I had always dreamt of being taken care of by a man in that way. Attitudes towards women paying for dates or whatnot differs between cultures - he said that in Serbia it's quite rare and hardly acceptable for a woman to foot the bill, especially among older people. He paid for everything for the longest time, and then we both just became sort of complacent about it after awhile. We take turns now when we go out.

I believe in this approach also. Thats what usually happened when I offered. I would never date a spongey girl either, independence is something very valuable in any relationship.

Wow ol Dan has been on a roll lately. I like his style, well except for the Abercrombie shirt.
