I don't follow Piers enough but the few clips that I have seen. He clearly shuts down his opponents with sound logic. Feel free to show me some of his faults.

From what I heard, whoever listens to this guy needs to have his or her head examined.

agreed.

if you had said bill maher i'd probably agree with you, but piers morgan?

hmm dunno if i agree with that assessment.

I've never thought of Piers Morgan as a left winger. He spent years working as a journalist for ultra-right winger Rupert Murdoch's tabloid newspapers in the UK. Before replacing Larry King, Morgan was mostly known for participating in various network reality television shows and talent competitions.

His CNN talk show has dismal ratings and if Piers Morgan is some sort of self appointed spokesman from the left, most Americans don't know it because nobody watches his show.

Piers Morgan? Meh. Like Gavin said, I've never thought of him as very left wing. I do agree with you to the extent that the left has Keith Olbermann though. He's certainly every bit a blowhard as Rush Limbaugh. The problem is proportion though. The right seems to have a ton of these people, while the left has only a few.

If you think Piers Morgan is left wing it goes to show just how far right America has become these days.

It's definitely more financially advantageous to be a right wing author. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Anne Coulter, Michelle Macklin, Michael Savage and Bill O' Reilly sell millions of books. Publishing books is a bigger source of income for them than their salaries as talk show hosts.

By contrast, Keith Olbermann is a failure as an author and is without network talk show because MSNBC thought he was too controversial for prime time television.

Admittedly, I don't know everything about Piers Morgan, and he'd probably surprise me in some aspects. (Like I was surprised that he's religious, which knocks him down a few pegs for me).
I've only seen his most controversial disputes, and they seemed pretty left to me. (Cue gun control) More importantly, I was more making the statement that he's a clown. He seems to think that he can just superimpose Britain as this objective model of why America is wrong, and never seems to be able to dig beyond the face value of the statistics and goes crazy any time anyone tries to point that out or offer an explanation why that is a fruitless venture when considering context.

I don't care who it is, left or right. The moment their ideology becomes impervious to reasonable opposition (especially when their response is simply to insult that opposition), they're a clown.

I thought it was Yale and he just took one course there which wasn't part of a degree program.
