Bane LAPD manhunt ongoing
Some of you Americans have probably caught bits of this ongoing story the last couple day.
Cliffs: - Cop tries to blow whistle on LAPD corruption, racial profiling, incompetence - Gets fired for trying to do so - Snaps and writes a manifesto to expose LAPD - Goes on a mission to kill all the corrupt cops and their families - Has killed three so far: The daughter (and her fiance) of a LAPD lawyer who represented him, as well as a police officer - Is now thought to be loose in the mountains near Big Bear Lake Wanted ex-LAPD cop Christopher Dorner shifts from being hunter to hunted - CBS News |

Holy crap! This reads like a movie script! (They'll probably make one out of it in years to come...)
Two questions: what does "bane" have to do with it and what is the significance of "cliffs"?

This is some serious Strange Days shit, especially considering LAPD went off on some innocent bystanders yesterday in a case of mistaken identity.

Is this guy still on the run? Is he sneaking about taking shots at people ala the Washington sniper?
I've heard bits about this case but if anyone could help fill me in a bit then that'd be grand, thanks. |

I just read the manifesto this guy wrote and he seems to be pretty articulate and educated. He also seems to be very pissed off and out for blood no doubt. Its a shame that he felt this was the only way he could resolve the situation. I actually believe most of what he is saying but your not going to clear your name by committing murder. The L.A.P.D has always been on the radar for being corrupt in many different ways, and now it has led to a worst possible scenario. This guys has been planning this a long time and seems very strategic and smart in his moves. The scary thing is, I see it getting worse before it gets better.

Yes, a guy with military training, described as "mentally disturbed" and on a killing spree doesn`t sound good at all. What a horrible irony if someone who was originally offended by police corruption now perceives that killing his lawyer`s daughter is some kind of justice.

I assume "Bane" is a reference to the villain in the most recent Batman movie. And "Cliffs" is a reference to CliffsNotes, which are little booklets that summarize works of literature for people too lazy to read the actual books.
