Ah sh*t. I just remembered the Iraq war.
And the current drone strikes.

Damn. Ok. Let me amend. I didn't think regular internet people would...

Ok that doesn't work either. It's internet people.
Nevermind. Just cross this whole post out of your mind.

I made a whole thread on this in another forum cause I had the exact same thought go through my head: "can you respect someone who has killed innocents in order to accomplish a goal?"

people go, "Oh no Dorner's a piece of ****, Che's rotting in hell", but of course you bring up something pro-American, like nuking Japan, and it's suddenly ok in their mind.

And that's why it ever happens to begin with.
As long as it's pro-"my position", it's ok.

I find that highly, highly unlikely. I'm no expert, but these kind of people generally don't have any intention of surrendering. He probably would have shot himself before doing that.

Nuking Japan - in no way - is comparable with the Dorner actions. The Imperial Empire of Japan flew planes into US warships, a nation that had no part in the war at the time. Japan had the option for surrender prior to the nuking, the civilians Dorner killed did not.

People were dead in both cases. That's where the similarity ended.

Initially Dorner had issues with the LAPD where he felt wrong by the department, but Dorner's final goal became “unconventional and asymmetric warfare” against the LAPD officiers and family members. His inital goal was to get his job back, but when that didn't happen, it was replace by his final goal which was vengeful killing of innocent people. I don't see how killing innocent people is respectable or justifiable.
