Speaking in geographical terms, there is a bit of difference between a lot of places. I'm born and raised in Seattle which is a pretty liberal open minded city, whereas most places in the South tend to be the opposite. Don't quote me on that either, i'm just saying what i've heard. So mindsets for certain activities such as experimentation could be different based on what you've been taught as a kid.

There's just not enough attraction there.
You bring shame and disgrace upon this proud land, you sir are not a christian!

People are not only shaped by the environment that they live in, but even more so by the people that they surround themselves with on a daily basis. You can be in a liberal city but that doesn't mean that somebody's family and friends are going to have liberal attitudes. I speak from a number of examples that I seen over the years.

Well of course. I was only using that example based on him bringing up being from the South.

I always assumed that the US was like this, very liberal cities contrasting with very conservative cities regarding sexual liberties. So what is being said here, is that the southern states are still very conservative in these issues, but are there not exceptions like New Orleans or Miami for example, or is the difference not as clear cut as I've been led to believe?

For me, I associate certain types of people based on what area of the country they live in. For example, the west coast (California, Washington, Oregon) is more liberal, than the east coast (Florida, Virginia, and others) are typically conservative. However, there's a lot of ways that could be different. That's the way i've always categorized it though, and sometimes it's not too far off.

The east coast has some of the most liberal states in the country. The first state in the nation to legalize gay marriage is on the east coast.

Like I said, I am only going by what I think, not by what is true. My mindset has changed over the years but I have always associated the east coast with conservatives. Not saying they're all conservative, just saying that's how I associate it. It's how I was taught, but I learned that it was different as I grew up.

That's really weird. Were you taught that New York was conservative?

I was taught that the west coast is liberal and the east coast is conservative. It was more of my parents just giving me the same answer based on any question I would ask if it was political related. I've learned it's different though on my own, and I realize that the prior way of thinking is wrong, but i'm young, i've got a lot to learn

For me I find the closer you are to an ocean the more liberal you are.

There must be something in that mid-west/southern water. O.o
