That is just so awful. I can't believe in 2022 people are accepting women being beaten in public. I was in a abusive relationship and it dragged me through hell and back. It's all over Asia and Eastern Europe where women are forced into sexual trafficking. It makes me sick. I can't cope with the idea of animals being tortured either, who could live with themselves after doing that to a cat or dog?

Live with that? How many of us who eat dead animals bother to learn how they’re slaughtered, let alone how they're treated while alive ?
As to taking into account how crayfish are boiled alive (under the delusion they taste better that way) and the same treatment dished out to an intelligent, conscious octopi ( is that the correct plural) and a repeated nightmare I have of intelligent alien creatures invading earth discussing the most flavoursome way of disposing of our kind. - - - - - - I could go on but - - - - - - -

Excuse me semi-hijacking your thread, but it does say it's about human trafficking, and with the horrific events in Texas yesterday I reckon this is the place, perhaps, to open a discussion on same.

Biden today said
"This incident underscores the need to go after the multi-billion dollar criminal smuggling industry preying on migrants and leading to far too many innocent deaths", but does it not rather highlight the desperation of Mexicans to get into the USA, and ask the question why the path to immigration is not being made safer for them? Or am I just completely misinformed? This is surely the sort of thing the Republicans will point to in the run-up to November, screaming about a wall again (though that would not have stopped a supposedly legitimate truck crossing the border). Nevertheless, Trump's foaming rhetoric about Mexicans is bound to re-enter the conversation, no?

If I can shift the focus a little though. In these discussions little is said about the appalling conditions people have to live under in many Sth American nations. History tells us that part of the reason for this is a long history of America treating them as pieces on a chessboard to be moved around without being consulted. In some ways the crisis now flooding over the Mexican border is of the US’s making. My suspicion the situation will open a window for China to step in with a Sth American version of ‘Belts & Roads’.

The police attempted to prove I’d somehow killed him which added another layer of trauma.
I soon phoned Fred’s sister to tell her the bad news only to be greeted with “How much money did he have”? Some families are cursed.
There’s more to all this but I don’t enjoy talking about it to say the least.

Yes, I gave him a month but moved out before he did given the lease had that long to run.
I’d made a death bed promise to his ex and felt I could handle him when he lost the plot. However, his third attack came from behind attempting to strangle me with a dressing gown cord so enough was enough.

I’d already been on a number of AID’s care teams where the client became psychotic due to the virus and that was harder to handle. Somewhat like ICE addicts they could acquire manic strength out of nowhere. We had a policy though of never looking after demented AIDs patients unless their were at least two of us.
Hope you don’t mind if I cease discussing this period. It’s a time I’ve tried to put well behind me. I was interviewed at length by a team from Sydney & Newcastle Universities about my care team experiences for a research project. I found doing so traumatic. Nobody should have to share anything that's painful or embarrassing unless they want to. Anyone gives you ****, to hell with them. Very brave to speak up as you did, and if you're done with it, nobody should have a problem with that.

Not at issue. I'm responding to her "is it okay if I drop this" comment. I don't think she should even have to ask.
