Which is fine, he's allowed to step down from running for president to take care of his family. People are happy about his decision because they didn't like him and/or his principles. His daughter has nothing to do with their excitement, so coming in here with guns blazing and stating that everybody is apparently happy that his daughter is ill, is not apt at all.

That's one of the reasons he dropped out, not the only one. His campaign was also deeply in debt, among other things.

I think he was also deeply distressed to find out that everyone at Music Banter hated his kid also.

Uh...I don't know if I buy that. He was on track to lose. Why wouldn't you want him to stay in and lose in the court of public opinion. Are you celebrating his reputation being saved? Because he's now the front runner in 2016. So if anything, his drop out now only enhances his chances next time around.

Furthermore, he would not have dropped out if it weren't for his child. I just don't understand how you aren't happy about this. Is what you're saying currently "Jeez its a real shame that his child got sick, but you know what, I guess it all works out because I hate Rick Santorum?"

Explain to me your position, Burning Down.

Sure. That and he was in trouble in PA.

I'm glad someone is calling a spade, a spade.

Wait a minute, you made this post. Are you telling me you didn't read your own ****ing post? It says in the OP that his daughter was sick from a rare genetic disorder.

Think about what you're actually saying. Do you honestly believe it was anyone's intention to celebrate the illness of a little girl?

No of course not. But perception is reality whether anyone wants to admit that or not.

The fact is/was people were giddy about him dropping out. Thats fine, but you need to recognize that he's dropping out because his child is sick. So he's making a decision to stop pursuing political office, he doesn't want to stop pursuing political office, he wants to keep running against a man who he believes is fraudulent. But he cannot because he values his daughter’s health more than winning office. And in that decision, people are finding elation.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what I think. MB has always been about "winning" which is why 4 or 5 posters keep coming back here, but you need to realize that there are real issues out there, and if you had to stop defending gay rights because of a medical issue, and someone celebrated that, I'd have said the same thing to them.

Beyond this point, I think its civically ignorant to celebrate like you are. So to be fair, I was bias walking in. I think its unintelligent from a political position to take the position many here have. It basically says you have a stunted understanding about many of the political machinations in the primary process. So yeah, I'm pissed that so many stupid opinions are being celebrated. But theres still a core problem here that people aren't recognizing. I don't know how I can say it to make you understand beyond using an example you're sympathetic to so...

When the religious right celebrated Christopher Hitchens death as "punishment" I was equally appalled. Because its not that a political argument is silenced, its that one is silenced - not because it was squashed with reason - but because of a tragedy.

To fail to recognize the tragedy says you lack a basic empathy for other people. In this particular example, I can't take anyone seriously who fights human rights when they can arrogantly ignore human suffering.

1. Yes

2. Santorum didn't kill 3k innocent people. He didn't advocate that the world be palced back into a caliphate. He didn't authorize the destuction of Buddhist statues and temples.

3. You have miserable takes it music.

Edit: Also, I do think its great that you've compared the two because now we're getting down to brass tax. We should be thrilled that Rick Santorum is out of the race because his child is sick, but we should be horrified that people cheered Bin Laden was dead...and I'm the one who's crazy.
