i dont think many sex workers are 'empowered' either. i think a lot of the time it's an over-compensation as a response to the many people who criticize and look down on sex workers. to me its kinda like someone getting broken up with then yelling LOOK AT ME AND HOW MUCH FUN IM HAVIN SINGLE SERIOUSLY GUYS LOOK AT ME AND MY FUN. i suck at analogies and examples. I rarely hear anyone say their job empowers them aside from sex workers.

Just because you've never heard something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Her opinion is more valid because she works with, communicates with, and is a sex worker.
It is her job and her place and what she knows.

Someone who isn't part of the lifestyle doesn't have a valid opinion just because they read an article.
it's like someone being like I CAN SAY THE WORD *** CAUSE MY AUNT IS A LESBIAN.

I don't agree with that. The whole straight allies thing that was mentioned earlier. If you are straight and want to be supportive of the community why aren't you allowed to or allowed to have an opinion of things concerning them?

To have an opinion is one thing, to try and enforce your opinion is another.

You can think porn stars are degraded as much as you want or need to. But to try and talk of Hermione or speak as if her opinion is LESS valid than yours is simply ridiculous.

At the same time, let me also include that the experience of one is not the experience of everyone. So to understand and listen to Hermione should not be to accept her experience as that of every Domme, Dominatrix, sex worker, etc.

Just as to listen to the writers of the articles attached by Vanilla are not the experience of all.

if you're talking about how "most" or "all" sex-workers feel, then how you've been affected by it may not be important.

But I do see your point.

I guess I should clarify that I mean those who simply read about it or something and think they are a credible source.

I don't mean just here. But as much as I personally have watched documentaries about birds of paradise, I hardly think my opinion on anything that they do is valid.
