American Presidency Campaign
It's starting to heat up now, to you lovely Americans, what are your thoughts on the candidates that may be running at the moment?
What do you think about Ron Paul? I heard he uses organic (Austrian) economics to make accurate economic predictions such as in 2002 he made this video which has all come true:

All we're really hearing about at the moment are the republican primaries, we're not really in presidential campaign mode yet. That said, all the republican contenders are awful, as expected.

Since they're running against an incumbent president (who almost always get reelected) the only people who are running against Obama right now are rejects. Hence why the only one who has the slightest chance is Romney, because even though no one gives a **** about his flip flopping wannabe ass, at least he's not as big a loser as any of the other candidates. This is why I don't vote. **** politicians.
Edit: Oh, and while I think that Ron Paul has some good opinions, I think libertarianism is utopian nonsense, so I can only care so much. Especially since his newsletters came out.

Romney is just a rich boy from suburban Detroit who wants to be president.
I'm interested to see how the New Hampshire primary turns out though. Ron Paul seems to be moving up in the polls (ugh). |

Sorry I didn't answer this in my previous reply. Here's how I feel about Ron Paul: I appreciate the fact that he actually has a consistent viewpoint on things (unlike someone like Romney or Gingrich who will just say whatever to get elected) and I agree with him about certain things such as ending the "war on drugs", but aside from that I can't stand the guy. I think his approach to complicated issues is overly simplistic and I have a huge problem with people who are willing to excuse institutional bigotry in the name of state's rights. I also think he'd be a complete disaster in terms of international diplomacy if he were president.

Voting for Ron Paul in the primary. Voting for him again if he gets the nod. Obama will be our president until 2016, that's almost certain at this point. No one in the current field can come close to beating him.

Yeah, I saw him on Leno the other night, and apart from being kind of dull, he also comes off as being only marginally intelligent. Not stupid, just, about as smart and able to lead a country as I'd expect a gynecologist to be.

I couldn't claim to be an expert on US politics, but I'd like to see Obama get re-elected. In the minute chance that it won't happen, I'd go for Romney. He may be a Republican, but he's refreshingly Liberal in a party that's mostly built around ignorant bible-bashing Conservatives in this election (hi Rick Perry!) but seeing as his own party seem to hate him with a passion because how dare he support human rights, it seems unlikely that he'll be able to challenge Obama. And good, I say.

If Ron Paul got his way he'd bring in a lot of money into the American economy by making America more attractive to foreign companies with little to no taxes and regulation, but all that money doesn't mean squat without proper circulation, I fear the main belief behind it is that everyone has the same opportunities and it's up to them to get the money into their own hands.
While he praises the merits of Competition in a free market the quality of goods will deteriorate massively as the companies that sell the cheapest goods with the biggest profits will be more capable of undercutting their competitors. With public schools being abolished the lower classes with be left with no prospects widening economic inequality. But if Ron Paul did get elected he wouldn't be able to get much passed so really we'd just see more tax cuts for the rich before the bush tax cuts expire and more hardship for the elderly and disabled as he continues his war against the welfare state leaving the next president with a bigger mess to clean up as the quality of life deteriorates in lower income areas.
