It would seem that the nation would only have universal recognition of gay marriage through entirely new legislation, which would surely fail miserably in Congress.
My bad anticipation, I had misunderstanding as to what the law stated.

Anyways, while I agree the legislation forcing all states to recognize, much less allow, gay marriage would fail miserably in Congress, I don't think that's the only way for gay marriage allowed/recognized in all states. A Supreme Court decision could have that effect. However, as long as the court retains its current composition, that seems very unlikely.

Saw this in my news feed:

Don't the republicans say the same exact thing about Obama?

How? Would it be wrong to say that many Republicans wish to abolish welfare? Would it be wrong to say that many Chinese people are, on average, shorter than Caucasian people? Would it be wrong to say that many women like the color pink more than many men do? Cause if it's actually true, then it is possible to make blanket statements regarding "many of" a group.

I HATE freeloaders who have been living off taxpayers' earnings for generations. Can you hear MY contempt?

I HATE the way the government restricts our rights in the name of "national security" yet our Southern border is "secured" worse than a 7/11. More contempt escaping?
And I hate college/high school kids who latch onto easily digestible, simplistic politics.

Yep, pretty much lol

This time of year is great to offend and argue with those kids you went to high school with years back, but never really talked, but still are facebook friends for some reason. Some stereotypical redneck posts anti-Obama stuff like everyday, and I just had to respond when he said that we shouldn't be excited about our gas prices since they were way lower when Obama took office and he has driven them up... As if the President has anything to do with gas prices lol

I'll probably vote for Obama. I'll likely always vote Democrat because I'd never vote for someone against gay marriage, planned parenthood, abortion, etc. All things that most republicans seem to be firmly against.

I'm sure there are many Repubs who would love to abolish welfare. I think the whole welfare issue is a bit too complicated to simply "abolish welfare".

Excuse it all you want. It is still stereotyping and "lumping" all of a group into what you percieve to be the majority of the group. It isn't good practice, and does not help any argument.

So my disdain for my government's inability to secure our borders as they simultaneously restrict rights of law abiding citizens is too "easily digestible and simplistic" to be valid?

Sorry I can't be as convoluted as you appear to be.

Sorry I just can't lump people of whichever group I choose together into broad stereotypical statements.

Sorry I can't blindly defend any person/party/idea.

I actually THINK for myself about each INDIVIDUAL issue regardless of what OBama or Romney or Paul might think about said issue.

I DECIDE for MYSELF.
