Admittedly I have a tendency to give leeway to claims that most skeptics reject, I've noticed that there is a growing tendency in the new age/thought movement to attach the term quantum to anything consciousness related. Although I'm a little more hesitant to dismiss certain concepts and theories than the typical skeptic, the trend of filing everything under quantum mechanics in an effort to give it some sort of scientific credibility is rather annoying.

I definitely agree with this.

Regarding quantum as explanations for stuff, although I'm hardly even a quantum novice, I think of it a bit like this. If the world as we know it was a page of words written in ink, quantum theory would be the study of the very tiniest ink blotches on that page. People would think that perhaps these tiniest ink blotches make up some words - and yes, they do. Get enough of them and they make up the words on the page, the ones they knew all along.

It's like people think there's something more without realizing that the macrophysics we relate to every day is the result of the quantum stuff.
