That said, it's kinda a symptom of a larger problem. In the same way that noone will really call her out on what she was saying, other than tutting from a distance, the same can be said of people abusing political correctness: Playing the Race Card, the ridiculous disability job employment acts... It's true that there will always be people like this, but inability of governments like that in the United Kingdom to actually take a stance on what's right (Though Labour will always be more guilty of pussyfooting around than the Tories) is really not helping matters.

Ah, stuff like this makes my stomach churn and my blood boil.

EDIT: Call her out in what sense, Moonlit? During the incident itself, or during the aftermath? Honestly, I'd keep my mouth shut if I had been on that tram, because that sort of behaviour, and the anger she incites is frightening in an enclosed space.

Where I live she'd be considered a liberal.

I love that her justification for saying this stuff in front of kids is that she has a kid too.

But that's precisely the point. It's a commonly held belief that she is virtually alone in her bigoted ranting, right? Yet virtually everyone (including myself) would be... cautious, when it came to confronting her on how racist and wrong she is.

She won't get "Punished" for this, she won't get told in a way she understands how wrong she is. She'll take any public outcry as reason to be more and more racistly brash because she doesn't care. It's hard to see how a change can be forced, but a bit of public solidarity against such rants probably wouldn't hurt.

I would be cautious, because I've seen people get assaulted for stepping into a confrontation. Physically assaulted. On a moving train, there's no where for you to run, and most normal people are just as frightened of the crazy.

Granted, that was on the last tube available on a Saturday night in Camden, but you never know what a stranger who is clearly out of their mind is going to do.

The Batlord 11-30-2011 10:59 AM

I like the fact that she puts her child at risk by antagonizing an entire train of people. Hey retard, what happens to the kid if someone decides to shut you up?

LoathsomePete 11-30-2011 11:04 AM

Ah the loud minority, where would we be without you? Actually probably colonizing planets, so fuck off.

Yes

With a massive population of Portuguese, Eastern European, Thai & Chinese immigrant workers.

Quite a lot of people don't like them here.
I'm not one of them BTW.
