I believe over here you get paid less when under 18, which makes sense. 18 is considered an adult so it definitely requires decent pay. But then again paying 15-17 less than minimum for adults for doing the same job is still age discrimination.

Where I work the pay rates are different for under 18s, but at the same time so are other entitlements. A part time worker over 18 can get a 15 minute break for working between 4 and 5.75 hours, whereas an under 18 will get 30 minutes for the same period. Under 18's don't pay any tax on what they earn either, just national insurance. There may be more (I havent got an employee handbook to hand) but these are two examples that in my mind make the fact that the under 18's get paid less justified despite the fact they are doing the same work.
