I saw the video for this and all the cop is worried about is having to do desk duty.
He just shot a kid and that's his first concern.

So in this story, the guy was suicidal and had a knife on him. In the video it looks like he's running away but when the camera gets pulled back. It looks more like he was charging the cops on the other side. Of course he needed to be shot down like the dog that he is.

Of course, the media leads to it being the officers fault right away without knowing anything about the situation.
