i used to work at walmart. the real guns are in a glass case on display and the airsoft guns come in a plastic package that is sort of a bitch to open for anti-theft purposes. there were no display model airsoft guns lying around for what should by now be pretty obvious reasons. at least not at the store i worked at.

cops aren't all top marksmen. I've heard of accounts of multiple cops missing a target at point blank range a few times. In fact, their training in firearms is comparable to anyone who wishes to learn at a range them self. We all remember the dude who shot himself in the foot right? |

He talked to his mother at the store on the phone and she asked him what he was doing he said " Nothing just playing with da toy gun." Now that tells me, that his intent was to terrorize, that he knew it looked real and that he had done this more then once. I also heard a report from his girl friend and I quote, " He would have told them it wasn't real." Now like I said I am sorry for his family's loss. But if you are walking into a store, with a gun real, or fake browsing the greeting card section and the police tell you more then once to drop your weapon (which is standard protocol) and you don't put down your gun real or fake if you get blasted it's really your fault and you can't hold the officers that we the people entrust to protect and serve responsible. I mean what if it were real and some kid playing on a tricycle that's over by sporting goods caught one in the neck? You guys are honestly saying you don't want your boys in blue to take that bastard down? Really? I mean I am not understanding how we are jumping to the connection of murder. I have had a dear friend of mine actually murdered by the police and he was white so lets just agree to disagree here.
I am not saying that there aren't incidents where yes there are racist police, and they do things they shouldn't. Ie, Rodney King, that kid in St. Louis, and some other things. This particular crime however screams clean shooting. Also trying to get **** outta walmart is like trying to pull teeth. Hell I didn't get an I'm sorry for finding glass in my cake when I was 7 months pregnant. I am so serious there, I asked them if it was standard practice to serve pregnant woman broken glass in their cake.

We really need the video. The fact that he was possessing a realistic looking toy gun around civilians is hard to defend on its own.
It really comes down to the actual altercation that transpired. How quick were the police to pull the trigger after if he did inform them it was fake? Did he get repeated warnings to put it down? Was he trying to explain it, albeit in a standoff-ish manner? It seems both parties may be at fault here. |
