This is a country of 300 million people. That fact alone is going to mean that there are more cases of police brutality than in most other countries. All by itself anecdotal evidence of it doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Are you saying it's not a cause for concern because it's going to happen anyway? |

No, of course it's a cause for concern, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily a country-wide problem that needs to be dealt with as anything other than an isolated incident if that's all it turns out to be. I don't know that I've seen any evidence that America has a disproportionate level of police brutality other than sensationalist news reports.

The shooting of Mike Brown was far from an isolated incident, do you know how many similar shootings have occurred this summer alone? Edit: I'm also not sure I'm following your line of thinking in regard to police brutality in America vs other countries. What do the comparative rates have to do with anything if people are being senselessly abused and/or murdered? Surely it doesn't make it any less terrifying just because it happens elsewhere. |

Bingo.
You may get harassed by a cop also but you don't have to worry that your life may be at risk while complying.

While i've never had to fear for my life with police, I wouldn't say its never happened to a white person. I think its wrong on both ends. The majority of these shootings do happen to african american and latinos however and its a travesty. There have been several Latinos killed in my vicinity in the past two years, mainly in santa ana and anaheim.

There are peaceful protests going on nationwide tonight. I'm going to one of them.
I'm sure at some of those locations cops will be there in their riot gear regardless. Quote:
I remember earlier in the year there was a story about a homeless white male that was shot at by trigger happy cops in Arizona.
