So New Zealand doesn't really get many tornadoes but today one hit in Auckland (close to where I am) and killed 2 people so far and injured 22. Pretty intense! But then again Kansas and other American states have had 100s of them lately so hope everyone is getting though this okay over there! It's pretty effin scary.
My blog has the report: Pink For Brains

A lot of people think that we don't get many tornadoes in Canada, but in fact after the US, we get the most tornadoes out of any other country. Especially in Southern Ontario (where I live) and in the midwest prairies. There were a couple of F2 or F3 tornadoes close to here last week. Somebody died
I also worked at a summer camp a few years ago and we had bi-weekly tornado drills. There were also 6 watches and 3 warnings during the 8 weeks I was there over the summer. |

Tornados are relativelly easy to prepare for; go the lowest point in your building, and at said point find the place surrounded by the most walls.
This is the mentality held be the vast majority of those southerners who died in this recent spat of tornados. Got to love suburban ignorance! |
