Yeah, as Conan indicated a couple hundred people were killed by tornadoes here just a week or so ago.

Those drills are in place for a reason. They're keeping you aware of the fact that there is a risk for tornadoes even if they are just practice drills. The next time you're lolling around in bed might be when a tornado will rip through yor house. Weather is very unpredictable.
