I think his point is that you suggested we compromise with a few radicals that make up such a small percentage of the World population, it'd be ridiculous for the rest to give in. It's like the idea of compromising every time one person in the entire world has a problem with something.

So if compromising is out how do you hope to settle anything?
The IRA wanted a united Ireland, they don't have that. Yet they were willing to lay down their arms & work for the people with discussion & compromise after a 30 year terror war. Have you ever read Bin Laden's demands? Some of them were quite reasonable.

At some point you have to draw a line under it & say enough.

The difference between us and them is we're killing armed, dangerous and ruthless militia. They killed innocent people going to work. |

The demands included the removal of U.S. forces from Saudi soil following the first Gulf war, home of Islam's two most holy places Mecca and Medina.
Since 9/11 this has happened. Where were al Qaeda in Iraq? Where are al Quaeda in Afghanistan today? What's the war against the Taliban all about if these people aren't al Quaeda, or terrorists. Which they aren't. |

Why? If you consider terrorist groups to be political representatives, then I'm wrong? Why?

If you can get a political party that represents the terrorists/freedom fighters and the wishes of millions of ordinary people to sit down at the table, then you're in business. You'd be better served asking the millions of ordinary people of Ireland and Ulster on both sides of the divide how they prefer to live. 30 more years of violence, or now. The bullet, or the ballot? And I never said terrorists groups were political representatives. Please stop putting words in my mouth. Last edited by right-track; 05-07-2011 at 07:37 PM. |
