I maintain that it's an event worth acknowledging, and it will bring peace to a lot of families and individuals, but I simply don't view the celebrations I've seen as any better than a grotesque and disappointing display.
Why's that?

Also, what country are you from?

Because no death should be treated like a frat party. In some backwards ways, it feels like a lot of the people I've spoken to have forgotten that this is a bittersweet victory for America.

I'm Canadian.

Well I guess that's just a difference in moral stance then. I don't equate every human life as the same. To me there is a difference between killing an innocent family man and killing a brutal terrorist with no regards for innocent human life but I realize some people disagree, although it hardly makes sense to me.

What's your opinion on the bitter part of killing Bin Laden?

I think the celebration is completely worth it considering how many families the man ruined. There comes a point where a man is such a POS that I'd actually take delight in seeing what he had done to so many others come back around to him. He's lucky the 24 hour burial tradition was upheld, if I had any say in it, I'd say **** his wishes. The man deserves 0 respect in my book.

It's not that I consider every human life to be equal, so much as I take violence, war, and death seriously, and when I see people posting statuses like "FUCK YEAH: AMERICA" and "GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH" it feels like people are disregarding all of the dollars, years, and lives that were spent for this event to come to pass. This is a landmark, but I think it's disrespectful to the millions killed to call it a victory.

I'm getting the impression "Terrorism isn't dead" is being said in lieu of having a valid position as to why we shouldn't have killed the son of a bitch.

I don't know why. Call it a hunch.

Never said he shouldn't have been killed. Just saying it's not the 4th of July.

I'm not one of those people... but what's so wrong about being proud that your country captured it's most feared terror threat?

I don't know if you are, but don't confuse Iraq with trying to capture Bin Laden. They are two completely different things and I am almost positive that the majority of Americans aren't in favor of the Iraq war and most people weren't on board from the beginning with that.

Similarly, no one has said it was the 4th of July, just that I shouldn't hate my country because they took out a genocide ass-for-brains.

I think we'd all do well to stick to the facts.

How can you defend Obama bin Laden's life and say "So what" to the thousands that died on 9/11. Those thousands you dismiss with a "so what," they didn't do anything to deserve what happen to them, they were innocent. Obama bin Laden is guilty of terrorism.

You honestly believe that terrorists have the right to kill and no one has a right to kill them? You demand people respect their life, while the lives of other people that died don't mean anything but a "so what?"

If you have anti American Gov't sediment then just come out with it don't trivialize those who died in the past. While I don't agree with total warfare, just because it has happened in the past is in no way an excuse for terrorism. Those who died at Hiroshima and Nagasaki both as the result of a nuclear blast and the aftermath due to the effects of radiation, and those who died during 9/11, they suffered tremendously, and their memory should been given 1000x the amount of respect you are afford terrorists.
Thank's Fox News. Take one snippet of what I wrote and than rant about it. Obviously I don't believe that killing thousands is okay. The "so what" refers to whether or not this is grounds for capital punishment. Where I come from, we believe not.

Edit: "guilt of terrorism" - what exactly is terrorism? This is why I brought up Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Why was 9/11 terrorism and the event that ended WW2 not? Terrorism is a totally meaningless label in my view.
