And then on top of that they do a plethora of work for the other realms that they are responsible for in the Commonwealth (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, etc) like how I mentioned William and Harry's relief work in Australia, for example. Except for Christmas Day and and Easter Day, the Queen doesn't get any other days off in the year from official red boxes and engagements and duties that the royal family participate in. So they don't just sit on their asses and do nothing basically. |

Some one told me that the royal family makes money for tourism so much that it's worth keeping them around and not having them pay taxes or give up all their stuff, etc.
I find this hard to believe. Take all their stuff and gain interest on it and you could buy a few things... but if it is true, that's neat. |

Yet even though I don't approve of royal families on a philosophical basis, I still like watching their weddings! Kate's dress *was* really pretty. And I liked seeing Westminster Cathedral all fancied up. It did look lovely and brings back pleasant memories of being there. I wish I'd heard the music during the service. I still haven't and plan to listen on YouTube eventually. Finally, all those hats... ...ha ha! It is fun to laugh at them, admire them, be amazed and horrified by them. So, I thank the wedding for being an excuse for people to show their creativity, for better or worse. Plus, any event that brings 2 billion people together to watch and honor love is rather sweet, I feel. I wish Kate and William well. It has got to be hard sometimes to live in the public eye, your every mistake magnified, your life turned into a kind of circus that others watch for fun...and no escape! Speaking of people who lack an easy escape... Quote:

Only because I've allowed her to survive.
She should be grateful for the children I've given her too. Both in the same picture. If you're interested my son has a stripy top on partially hidden by my daughter. She's the one in the purple robe thing with a gold crown on her head, just to the right of the ginger nut. |
