Does that mean I have to kill other loved ones to save mine?
I mean, if someone attacks someone I know, sure. But I'm not going to attack 'a country'. That's just stupid.

Wars here are never just about defending people.
They all have a lot of different purposes. Like... money, most of the time.

The origin of war and the stripped down basic concept of it. You have something I want so I'm just going to come into your country and take it. You can either hand it over to me or you can attempt to fight me.

I hope you don't mind that I really don't agree with that bit of 'human nature'.

that's fine you are entitled to your opinion and to disagree
I don't really agree with the intention of wanting something that others have and just forcing my way to take it but I agree with having some sort of protection against people that want to do that. That is what I meant by self defense.

I agree with that. I do.
But it feels wrong to WANT to do that in advance. To want to join the army. To WANT to fight... To want to go on missions in countries that you don't have problems with if you hadn't gone on that mission. Stuff like that. I don't have this feeling with Freebase. But in a lot of cases I think these soldiers are just butch man trying to proove their manlyhood.

Most people in the military don't even want to be there, they join for financial reasons not to be macho and because they WANT to fight.

Which may even be a worse reason.
I'd rather be a hobo I guess. I don't know what it's like overthere, but cops and soldiers are usually macho *******s here.

i don't like the concept of "countries" or "patriotism"
but if we didn't fight back, there'd be no me today "sook ching" - mass extermination of the Chinese by the Japs during WW2 so erm uh? how is that bad that there was a Malaysian resistance? and why is it bad that the "running dogs" (Jap sympathisers) were hung? |

BUT. If everyone was like me, there would be no fighting. I do see the need, I just don't see why people would want to fight.
