ETI which stands for extra-terrestrial intelligence, is generally used for "other highly intelligent lifeforms."

Call me ig'nant but this is the first time I've seen the acronym ETI, I've always heard it as ET or "aliens". Either way, I'd imagine 'intelligent' and 'basic' alien life are both equally likely to exist.

Maybe dimensions are limitless and inside each and every atom or quark is an infinite number of universes housing an infinite number of lifeforms. Indeed if the universe is, as some scientists believe, infinite then aliens are a certainty. Indeed in an infinite universe everything that can happen has happened and has happened an infinite number of times, even something as unlikely as a monkey typing out the complete works of Shakespeare by randomly hitting keys on a typewriter. In an infinite universe all odds are 100%.

This is the stuff of science fiction. The reality is that there's no evidence to support this

The evidence points to a finite universe, expanding at an accelerated rate.

This I agree with, although who's to say *we're* not the aliens (as it were)

I'm not so sure that's an apt analogy but essentially I accept the premise, although there's still plenty of room for sheer chance. Huge asteroids or larger have collided with the earth millions or billions of years ago, as unlikely as it seems at this relatively late stage, it isn't impossible that it could happen again. One can only hope that it's a direct hit on Fox News headquarters.

Science fiction? So because there's no evidence to suggest something it's more likely to be false? I don't think reality runs based on what we believe and disbelieve. Reality just is. Maybe it's limitless, maybe it's not. We don't know.

The finite universe, again, maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Since we are limited by how much of the universe we can see then we have to admit we do not know whether it is finite or not. We can but make educated guesses based on this and on that... but that's all they are - guesses. Just like dark matter and dark energy are guesses that scientists had to make in order to make their model of the universe work.

I love science, don't get me wrong, but I keep in mind that some things or every thing they've told us might just be false.

How do we even know that aliens are intelligent anyways? They could be dumb as rocks.

Theoretically....

The universe is so big that life has existed, at some point, in every shape and form every human could possibly imagine in their lifetimes.

The universe is so big that it's highly likely that there exists somewhere an exact copy of yourself.

I think you mean people are less likely to believe something without evidence - and that makes sense. But to suggest something is less likely to exist without evidence, that's just silly. Either things are or they ain't. That's it. They don't rely on belief or evidence to do their thing.
