It is. I would like to just make a news show, and then have one democrat and one republican on when there's a conflict. If the republicans did something to anger the democrats, I would ask the republican what they did. I would then ask the democrat why he was upset, and then that would be it. And vice versa. I just hate bias. It's like there's NO gray area. FOX NEWS IS STUPID AND IGNORANT. YEAH? WELL MSNBC WOULD TEAR BUSH APART IF HE SAID WHAT THIS LIBERAL GUY SAID. DER IS DOOWBLE STANDADS! Blah. Blah. Blah. I'm a very strict independent. I hate both sides immensely. Immensely.

I know what you mean. All I have to say Earl Grey and Lady Grey really know how to make tea, the former is so strong it should be considered an illegal substance. Do you prefer your tea with lemon or milk? I don't care for milk because it makes me tea look like coffee and I have to take a double take and think to meself: 'hhmm am I drinking tea or coffee?' You know I hate that when I think I'm drinking coffee and it turns out to be tea, it's like so cognitive dissonance when me taste buds and me mind are out of sink. Do you have a good recipe for scones? The ones I brought from the market are blueberry or cinnamon chips or chocolate chips and I often wonder is there better scones out there?

Neapolitan is epic.
Tea Party blows, it's just dumping fuel on the fire that is partisanship in American politics. If we expect to see anything this decade beside another back and forth nowhere match between Dem and GOP, then we're ****ed.

This poem comes to mind when I think of the Tea Party.
God of our fathers, known of old -- Lord of our far-flung battle line -- Beneath whose awful hand we hold Dominion over palm and pine -- Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet, Lest we forget -- lest we forget! The tumult and the shouting dies -- The Captains and the Kings depart -- Still stands Thine ancient sacrifice, An humble and a contrite heart. Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet, Lest we forget -- lest we forget! Far-called our navies melt away -- On dune and headland sinks the fire -- Lo, all our pomp of yesterday Is one with Nineveh and Tyre! Judge of the Nations, spare us yet, Lest we forget -- lest we forget! If, drunk with sight of power, we loose Wild tongues that have not Thee in awe -- Such boastings as the Gentiles use, Or lesser breeds without the Law -- Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet, Lest we forget -- lest we forget! For heathen heart that puts her trust In reeking tube and iron shard -- All valiant dust that builds on dust, And guarding calls not Thee to guard. For frantic boast and foolish word, Thy Mercy on Thy People, Lord! Amen. |

What is amusing about this thread is that, thus far, criticism of the Tea Party has been:
1) It's racist (overtly or otherwise), thus any and all ideas being promoted by its membership are invalid. 2) It's hypocritical, thus any and all ideas being promoted by its membership are invalid. Anyways, let's be real here. While I'd agree it's racially homogenous (although certainly less so ethnically & religiously), it is genuinelly politically heteregenous. Its members range from paleoconservative to CCC members to ex-shachtmanite neo-cons to libertarians and everyone in between. Hell, even Thom Hartman has exhorted his fans to go to these events. Secondly, what seperated the Tea Party from the Republican Party is the fact that it origniated under Bush 2. Yes, the first (large scale) protests occured under Obama, but the legislation that prompted the outrage and organizing was T.A.R.P., which was drafted by a Democratic congress, signed into law by a Republican president, and was supported by both major party presidential candidates. Anyways, my personal thoughts are that protesting is an ineffectual method of action preferred by those who prefer showing how much they care about an issue instead of actually doing something about it. My only interaction with these groups has been during some proper political events, and then I usually just try to get them to adopt nouvelle droit positions. |
