Yes, you can be embarrassed or preyed upon via Facebook.
But you can also be shot, or stabbed, and even punched (oh no!) in your real face, at any time of the day, no matter whatsies.

Humans - good or bad?

A much more interesting topic. Decidedly bad, as far as I can tell.

I think a better thread title would be: 'Facebook: over-rated?'
or even a thread if Facebook was worth all the hype.

how pessimistic of you.

that question is unanswerable

Humans are neither bad nor good but somewhere in between. Too many shades of grey exist.

Facebook, for the most part, blows. But that's just my opinion.

But it's all in how you use it. If you're using it to keep in touch with the people you care about who live 1,000+ miles away, or to organize events, fine. It's when people begin to live vicariously through it that becomes a digital lobotomy, so to speak. Unfortunately for me, it's my main mode of communication with my family and friends all over the country and the world because I don't have a phone.

I think it's bad. It's just a fucked up form of socializing. Of course, this kind of depends on how you use it.

exactly. Bebo, Friendster and Myspace that came before.

The same common denominator to all the irritation was certain people not the benefits of the networking site itself.
