Good if you don't use your real name.

Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

Changing your name is pretty fun actually, you can confuse the hell out of your friends

Male men? Are there other kinds of men?

Good. People who get in trouble because of facebook weren't thinking things through in the first place

But i suppose the bad thing i see about it is that peoples lives are basically in your face constantly, some people use it as their bloody diary and you know about everything that they are doing, and everything you don't want to know they are doing. As regards privacy, well there are privacy settings to limit people viewing your profile and also to make sure that your profile can't be searched for on Google, but most people are just too stupid to bother with these so basically it's their own fault. Another serious privacy issue is people posting a link to their Facebook page on websites such as this, as i've seen in the Facebook thread. I wouldn't recommend anyone to do that, you'll end up becoming friends with some random creep (not saying that there's any here but you never know) and that person can view your personal details and basically view your life, again that's your own fault not Facebook's. My Facebook profile is like my inner circle, i don't mind becoming friends with random people on last.fm or whatever, but my Facebook is for friends and family and ONLY friends and family and only they can view it.

If people just took more care about their privacy and only use Facebook causally well then it would be a very good website to use.

There are privacy settings that allow you to make details private to who ever you want. Also you do not have to put details down.

I don't see anything bad about it because it comes down to the user honestly.

yeah gotta agree.
I have separate lists for different groups of people with varying info available to them.
For instance my list for scrabble players i meet off the board or a group I created are on a limited list and can see nothing.

I can't stand people that try to make some kind of "statement" by not using it. Don't use it if you don't want to, otherwise it makes a lot of things very convenient. You don't have to declare to the world that you are so badass and free-thinking that you are above an internet site while everyone else are a bunch of sheep. It's dumb. It was only a matter of time before a social networking site grabbed hold like this...the basic essence of the internet is connection and sharing. I'm surprised it took so long, honestly. Myspace was a joke.

I wouldn't call it a making statement.
I see it more as being made to feel as an outcast because I don't want one.

I'm always having people haranguing me to get one from friends, relatives, co-workers. Even my boss. As if a phone, email & IM wasn't enough ways to contact me already.

Honest truth is I don't like social networking sites, I think they're more trouble than they are worth. People can go on about 'oh you can set privacy settings' but it's easy to circumnavigate them either deliberately or by accident and I don't really want any of my personal life that easily accessible online.

I'm not making a statement, I'm just not interested in it.

I know not everyone that doesn't have an account is trying to make a statement. I just hate that there are people who come off like that and then make me feel like I just drank the kool aid for joining. You like it or you don't...it shouldn't really be more complicated.
