Yeah I kind of have to agree with JWB on this one.

i am curious which specifics you disagree with though. if you just don't wanna argue then you can tell me and i won't argue back. or if you do wanna argue then you know i'm down lol. either way it's your choice.

I guess after rereading any initial disagreements I felt are mainly just schisms between the presentation of modern feminism and my understanding of feminism in relation to myself. I forget sometimes that my perception of what feminism means/is isn't equal to what's mainstream these days.

There's definitely a tumerous side of modern feminism.

Well, all people are douchebags, so all ideologies are therefore douchey as well, regardless of their theoretical merit.

There are plenty of ideologies that acknowledge our douchey nature, and seek to overcome it with reasonable self-cultivation and understanding. But the awful thing is, pretty much every ideology that starts this way inevitably gets hijacked by uncompromising extremists...

Life is such a funny thing. I don't know how it can be so beautiful whilst sucking so badly.

i think i might know what you mean by this post but i might be wrong. i am unsure tbh. my interpretation is that you're basically saying that your idea of what feminism is and my idea of what feminism is aren't the same, so some of my criticisms don't apply to your definition of feminism. my picture of feminism largely comes from pop culture, youtube videos, a few internet discussions like this one and interactions with self-proclaimed feminists where as you have probably put more time into researching feminism if you consider yourself one.

I think modern brands of feminism like Jezebel-type click bait are largely an internet phenomena. Mysogonists and mysandrists argue with each other over the internet and pool up with like minded people until there's enough of them to manifest some non-internet event, but how representative are they of feminism. Many of them actually criticize mainstream feminism as being too "soft", automatically marginalizimg thenselves.

Well, yes and no. Our views on feminist issues - at least the ones mentioned here - are the same or similar, but the discrepancy is in our views on feminism as a whole due to different experiences.

I think this is true as well. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Although I think us classic feminists are the majority, it's the louder subgroups that cause hesitancy in labeling oneself with the F word.
