I'm often called the sluttiest guy people know, and I take that as a compliment. Slutty people are funny a lot of the time, and a gag to hang around.

it seems like the progressive/feminist approach to this kind of thing is to get rid of the dirty words like slut. they seem to think once you neutralize/castrate the language you solve the problem
that approach can never work, imo. it's basically just trying to be the thought police without having the authority to enforce any of your laws. i think of this when i read this thread because it reminds me of an encounter i had with a coworker a little while back. basically she was explaining her sexual exploits and whatnot and then she said something about how even when she was in kindergarten she had 2 boyfriends and i said something along the lines of damn so you've basically been a whore since day 1. and she got offended and gave me the usual spiel about how it shouldn't be considered a whore cause blah blah blah sexuality is healthy etc. i didn't even mean it in a really negative way. it was sort of a joke that just so happened to be true. it's like you want to remove the stigma by removing the dirty word. the word is just an expression of the stigma, not the cause of it. a more pragmatic approach is to either disregard the significance of the term or to wear the slut label as a badge of honor imo |
