You're making the assumption that anyone who "sleeps around" will necessarily "throw themselves at complete strangers". There are cetainly people like that, but to make a blanket genralization like that is just bad logic.

"sleeping around" means sleeping with several people in a very short period of time, just how well could you know those people? You can only **** with so many people that you know. Simple conclusion, either you don't know them at all or you can't know them well enough to properly care about them, either way you clearly don't value yourself or respect yourself (or them for that matter).
