As the article said, it's the parents' fault. That said, that forecast is based on what will happen if current trends continue, which means it may have to be taken with a pinch of salt.

This more or less sounds like the usual "this next coming generation will never amount to anything" spiel that EVERY generation seems to say. I can honestly say that I know absolutely nobody in Generation Z, my only encounters with kids are passing them while out and about, and they don't seem anymore unruly than my peers when I was their age. Like I said though, my experience with people from "Generation Z" is limited so I might be wrong and they all might be little Antichrists.

All I know is that my 7 year old cousin called me from his personal cell phone the other day and proceeded to carry on a semi-intelligent conversation for quite some time before he informed me that he had another call, and that he would have to call me back. "Better yet" he exclaimed, "I'll just text you". I was speachless.

My parents don't want me to have a cellphone, they think it will distract me, and they can't be any more correct. The only reason they let me have my own computer is because it's much more educational and useful that whatever cellphones being hyped right now. I spend most of my time on wikipedia and other informative sites so I can increase my knowledge/vocabulary, which is a bit of a rarity. While most of this is correct, I don't like how they're saying generation z-ers are DOOMED AND FAIL AT LIFE is a bit of an exaggeration. While I might not have a bright future or whatever, that doesn't mean that we're all doomed. I (as of now) don't know any absolutely BRILLIANT kids, but they're certainly out there.
