This is one of the most retarded articles I think I've ever read

Reading the comments on that was actually more interesting than the article itself.

It's frustrating though, because I do see a point buried in the hysteria and crap like this makes it harder to discuss that point intelligently and still be taken seriously. It does speak to the interesting nature of language, though. What she doesn't take into account is how words are abstracts, without inherent meaning. Language changes and evolves because of how words are interpreted--the power of a word is in the response it evokes, not necessarily the intended meaning. Kind of the old "bullies on the playground" strategem--don't get upset and the power dynamic starts to change. Misuse hyperbole and you just reenforce the problem.

And this is why women shouldn't be allowed to write articles. It sends the dangerous message that they are capable of rational thought.

But what I really would like to say is, sites like the Guardian seem to always pick total idiots as their token female contributor and when they make rants like these it's a total kick in the balls (or should I say ovaries?) to feminism.
I don't like to call myself a feminist just out of guilt by association with all the idiots who call themselves feminists. It's really sad how people can take a concept as simple as equal rights for people of both sexes and twist it around to mean all kinds of ridiculous bullsh*t. |

People need to realise it's not the words you use it's the way you use them. Generally, "sweetie" is used in an endearing way yet apparently it's a sign of depraved chauvinism. This woman should be labelled a feminazi, because she's gone overboard and nutzo and declares swathes and swathes of people misogynistic based purely upon the words they use and not the mentality or intent with which they're used.
