and on the offchance that someone might try to save you, and you survive, you'll probably be at least a little retarded forever.

Depression is a physical imbalance not some made up disorder based on nothing to do with brain function. If depression was as simple as making a choice to get out of bed it wouldn't be an issue. I understand what you saying, at the end of the day that person makes a decision to off themselves but you have to question their state of mind at the time and figure out if it was a rational decision or something driven by the disorder. If it was because of the disorder I wouldn't necessarily call that a choice.

i still consider it a choice even if it's driven by disorder. people have all sorts of disorders that can affect the choices they make. i don't see where you draw the line. but this sorta feels like a semantic dispute more than an ideological one tbh, i think i get why it would feel like its not a choice to the person it's happening to.

I think we've managed to find a white, teenage Soulflower.
****ing amazing! I just saved the pic to make sure it's never lost to the sands of time. The fact that I am quoted on one side, and my thread is glorified on the other in no way influences my love of this post. But seriously though, vote in the death metal battle of my Metal Survivor thread. Don't be a bitch.

This thread has been focusing on depression the past few pages. That's only one of many reasons why people try to commit suicide. These are a few others.
1. Loss of Hope. 2. Frustration. 3. Fear. 4. Psychosis. 5. Drugs and/or alcohol. 6. Regret. 7. Fed up with life/society. 8. Heartbreak. 9. Massive life change. 10. Terminal illness It's an amazingly complex subject which is why I get frustrated with those that try to tidy it all up with a few select sentences they get out of some article.
