The last time I experienced a prolonged period of unhappiness, I wrote in a journal whenever I felt overwhelmed, and proceeded to never look at what I wrote again. In writing it down never to be read again, it was my way of getting it out of my system. It was a great deal of help.

I have been pretty depressed at times throughout my life and honestly I'm usually depressed more than not. Anyway, I've been prescribed medication for it when I was a bit younger and thought that by taking the medication it was going to fix this issue. As I've gotten a little bit older and done research on different drugs I've found that the medication simply masks the issue so you don't notice it, but in reality its going to come back as soon as you're off the medication. So I decided I wouldn't take any type of medication the doctor gave me for depression and such anymore and would try to deal with the issues naturally. I'm not telling others this is what they should do or anything but personally I didn't and still don't like taking medication day in and day out for things if its not absolutely necessary. So I try to just deal with the depression the best way I can and live through it because I always know its gotta get better at some point. I'm generally a very stressed out person, and I worry over the smallest of things and have as long as I can remember, and those things both directly relate to my depression issue I think. Other things also obviously contribute but those two things certainly don't help. Sorry for my unimportant and pointless babble I tend to do that sometimes, lol.
Edit: As for the poll question: Ugh, suicide is a very touchy subject. I have seen what suicide can do to a family, so I see it from this prospective. However, I also know that people just want out for whatever reason and are miserable. Some people don't think it out enough and just decide to do it and go through with it. Some people don't want help though and those people, much like a non-cooperative addict doesn't wanna get clean, don't want to live. So while I think its selfish for someone to end their life and make their family miserable, I also think its selfish for a family to want someone to continue living that has no desire too. I don't know honestly, this is a subject that's just lose-lose really. Cowardly? Just depends I guess, heck I don't know. I've never truly wanted to kill myself so I can't speak from that perspective.

I suspect some of you guys could use more laughter in your lives
Appearantly, laughter has therapeutic properties and because it's contagious on it's own, you don't really need comedy to laugh. Watching someone else do it is generally enough!

Easy to judge someone when you have not walked in their shoes.

You won't judge them after you have. You never will.
