as for the initial topic of discussion. i think establishing a modern theory that rape is a biological function is incredibly scary and messed up. especially if it starts being used as legal defense in court.

it might have been the biological function of cavemen, but i don't plan on going back to living inside a small hole in a big rock during my lifetime and i don't think many other people do either. so whether or not it was a biological function within our species ages ago i don't see why it matters that much in present day. it's not like we still have tails anymore...

I definitely don't think women who like to eat fancy are worse than or equal to men who think using women like disposable sex objects is ok.

I'm not a feminist - I like men that act like ''men'' like any woman does. I don't believe in domesticating or controlling men but rape is pretty out there. Surely more people are against it then feminists right?

I think AeroCooper hit the nail on the head in that this is gonna be used as an excuse.

And it really is no excuse. Any mentally stable person has the capability to be civilized and ethical. When men treat women like they are not human beings, that is not something that can be defended as biologically normal, it's a sign of sociopathy.

I understand the topic of this thread is an explosive one, but if you think what the OP is talking about is an attempt to sugarcoat rape then you are really misunderstanding the discussion. Just because something may have an evolutionary advantage doesn't mean it's justifiable or ethical. There undoubtably is an evolutionary advantage to murder in some scenarios as well, that doesn't mean it's morally acceptable to kill people.

yes, exactly, but at the same time comments like the one you made earlier force me to be an apologist for my gender. THAT is the sexist issue Janszoon and I are getting fed up with. i don't need to hate my penis to hate rape.

That's a useless statistic because there is no distinction made between the kinds of crimes being committed.

One of the most common crimes among women is prostitution, which is more of a problem with esteem than narcissism. They don't tend to be sociopaths.

Men commit more murders, rapes, robberies and violent assaults. These are crimes more associated with sociopathy.
